What to Check Before a Home Service Website Goes Offline for Maintenance
Website maintenance can affect forms, booking tools, and contact details even when the outage is brief. Choose a time when the right staff are available and avoid maintenance during a known busy period when possible.
Before work starts, save a current backup and confirm who has the credentials needed to restore the site. Tell the team which pages or features may be unavailable and provide an alternate contact route if customers need to reach you.
After maintenance, test the homepage, key service pages, phone links, forms, confirmations, and tracking. Review the site on a phone as well as a desktop. Check that no temporary notice or test content remains visible.
Keep a basic record of the work, the time offline, and the tests completed. If a third party manages the site, agree in advance on how they will notify you and what to do if the site does not come back as expected.
